I think that the GG24 event held on the weekend of the 4th & 5th May was a success.

So it falls on me to say a few thank you’s.

Thank you

Firstly thank you Steve Crook and Terry Arnott for staging the first event in September 2017, and giving the A545RC (and me) permission to adopt the idea and present it again this year. It is a simple idea but has a great potential.

With thanks to our sponsors

Thank you to our sponsors Blayde Security (Chris McFaul), Tesco in Lee-on-the-Solent (Ellie’s husband Richard) and Nick Carter Celebrant.

Thank you to our supporters

Thank you to everyone that supported the event prior to and during the weekend. Thank you to the event team that helped in so many ways, recording everyone’s efforts for the entire 24 hours. Thank you to everyone that took part and made it all so worth while.

Thank you to Emma Smith for her 24 hour shift on the recording table.

Congratulations!

Together we ran 1,168 miles, there were 121 runners/walkers and we raised £1,006.32.

The Diving Museum and GAFIRS each received £503+ from the club, which will go towards their valued work in our community.

We ran as individuals, as pairs and in family groups. Participants from all age groups took part, and there was at least one participant on the course throughout the entire 24 hours. Congratulations to all!

Special Congratulations

Special congratulations must go to Tony Ryan who reached his target and completed 50 miles dressed as Garfield, and also to Annette Thorn who completed 40 miles on her birthday.

Two records to beat next year perhaps?

Planning for GG24 in 2025

It is intended to promote another GG24 in 2025 and build on this year’s achievement (date to be decided). Again free to enter and to raise money for local charities.

If you have any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, or any feedback about this year’s event that would make next year’s event better please contact me, Dave Kitching.

Planning for an event in 2025 will begin in the autumn. I hope that you will wish to be involved in some capacity, and that you will also be a runner in the event.

Thank you.
