I’m not going to talk about Summer! Not until it has the decency to hang around for at least a whole, uninterrupted week anyway. Hopefully, the school holidays will enjoy some sunshine.
Meanwhile, our Absolute 545ers have been making the most of the lighter mornings and evenings.
Group runs and sessions
Our group runs have been popular, with opportunities for new members to experience running with the gang on a range of sessions.
Monday morning and evening sessions
Monday morning hills from The Oast & Squire and The Monday Club from Bay House School sports hall which is a really gentle 3-5 miles at a gentle pace with opportunities to regroup.
Evening and weekend runs
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening group runs and of course, parkrun’s every Saturday, and The Breakfast Club from Bayside Cabin each Sunday.
Club leadership and experience
We’re very fortunate to have a wealth of experience and enthusiasm within our ranks which has recently been bolstered by the new Men’s volunteer Run Captain Dr Dan Roiz De Sa, fresh from his 100th (and final apparently) Marathon, which was part of IronMan Austria (his 12th).
The new Club Chairman, Chris McFaul, has found his feet and is being supported by our members so it’s pretty much, as you were, but better.
Volunteer appreciation
Every club or group is reliant upon those more experienced members to step up and give others the benefit of their time but we should never forget that they have lives too and they are never taken for granted. There lies the strength of the 545ers… a band of brothers and sisters who support each other.
Invitation to new and returning runners
If you are a brand new runner, thinking about starting, or a lapsed runner who wants to once again feel the high, we are sure to have something for you.
Finally…
Most questions can be answered using the search functionality found at the top of the page, so go ahead and have a mooch.
Meanwhile, keep wearing that sun screen… you just never know!
Until next time…
Nick Carter
